Thanks to our handy dandy new stroller carrier, the babies have been making appearances all over the city. We can now load up and go with just one vehicle, rather than toting the stroller in one and the babies in the other. This is a huge change for us! We've been taking advantage of these beautiful spring days and making regular visits to the Birmingham Zoo, the Botanical Gardens, and Homewood Park. I shoot for an outing with the babies three days a week. On the other two days, we do strolls around the neighborhood. We have met lots of people, answered lots of questions, gotten lots of compliments and had our picture taken often. I think their favorite activity is going to the park and having a "picnic" on a quilt. We've dropped the morning nap so we go out for the morning and make it back home for lunch. As long as the babies are preoccupied, they like the new schedule. They now go down for a nap after lunch, and they usually sleep for around 2 1/2 hours.
Broox and Virginia are officially walkers! I see them choosing walking over crawling more and more. Jane and Rainer are doing a great job of standing up on their own and cruising. I think that by the end of the month, they will all be mobile on two feet. Scary thought! They are quicker and more curious every day. I can tell that they are beginning to understand more of what we say and they like to imitate sounds and gestures that Gray, the other babies and I make.
We've had a tough week because of teething and a virus. The babies are such great sleepers that Gray and I have a hard time dealing with getting up in the middle of the night now. I don't know how we made it through those sleepless months. Everyone slept last night and Jane is feeling much better.

Glad that you can get out and about, especially with this beautiful weather. I was driving down Oxmoor today and saw the grandparents pushing the babies in their stroller at the park. I so wanted to pull over and run up and introduce myself to all of them, but I didn't. :)
Kate & Gray - just wanted to compliment you on the great (front page) article in the newspaper. It was so sweet to read all about you, and I loved the family photo. Happy Mother's Day!
Your children are beautiful. I am also here to ask you a quick question. I'm an 18 year old high school graduate looking for a Babysitting job during my college days. I saw your post in the newspaper and fell in love with these four beautiful children. I was wondering if you needed anyone to nanny, or were looking at least for people to consider. If so please email me back. I have much experience, i live with special needs triplets who are now 9. I'm one of 7 children, so kids are my life. I live in Pelham, not far from ya'll. I really would love to nanny for ya'll so please if you are interest or looking email me back. I can give you any information you need, thanks :D
yay!! so glad you are mobile and enjoying the beautiful weather. we go to all of those places all of the time too!! hope to run into you soon :)
Kate and Gray, Loved, Loved, Loved the Birmingham News article about your entire family! Congrats on the front page...above the fold!!! It really was a great article and beautiful pictures of you both and the babies. I have famous relatives!
Hello! My husband is from B'ham and my MIL told us about your article in the News on Mother's Day. On May 8th, we had an IVF procedure and with our surrogate, we transferred four embryos. Today, we went for an ultrasound and saw four incredible beating hearts. My MIL said when she woke up on Mother's Day to find your story on the front page of the paper -- well, she just knew we were in for four! I find it exciting and scary all at the same time. I'd love to connect with you and "pick your brain". We actually plan to move from our home here in FL to B'ham in the next few years. Your children are precious and oh so beautiful!!! Congratulations on your own miracles from God.
Take care,
Sunny

I need to buy a baby pool. I am just putting off having to do baths every day to get the sunscreen off of them! I guess I am lazy!! LOL!
I found your blog this morning and have read through the whole thing.
Your children are absolutely beautiful and so amazing for babies born so tiny.
You're now on my favourites list and I look forward to following their progress.
